When it's ok to skip class

Take thursday, for example.

Past thursday, to be precise. I had signed to attend a Talk that would take place at a time when I'm supposed to be taking my French class. Now I'm usually the Intello student, but when I added the date to my calendar I had already some excuse in mind. Needless to say, it was worth it.

The place wasn't far from where I live, so I decided to walk. In my way, I spotted this little thing; and I didn't know it yet but that would be seriously related to the Talk I was about to attend.

This is a drawing based on Sandrine Estrade's work.

I got there twenty minutes early: it was a building with glass walls; so when I saw people were still arranging chairs inside, I decided to walk a bit more. I came back just in time to hear a guy asking at the front door, with that particular French accent:

- Creative Mornings?

I shook my head in agreement and then, following his hand, I walked to the end of the open room. I was surprised by the looks of the crowd around me (a lot of suits, which I thought seemed rather unusual for people attending a talk entitled "Fantasy"). I decided to ignore that feeling and proceeded to wait among the well-suited attenders. At some moment I approached the coffee table and opened my little red sketchbook to do a quick group drawing. I could feel some people occasionally staring at me but again, I didn't pay much attention to it.

It wasn't until the very beginning of the talk, which opened with a very long name and a speech from a (you guessed it) suited man, that I realized I was at the wrong place. I panicked and asked several persons in a row, when a (yeah, suited) woman shed some light on the matter: Creative Mornings, oh, quatrième étage. That's on the fourth floor. I laughed thinking of the sketch I had just made, and laughing I went upstairs. I entered the room exactly as does any person who arrives late. Silently, with a smile that says both "I'm sorry" and "I'm glad I made it" at the same time. No suited people at sight.

I arrived when Olivier Boulet was sharing some of his fantastic family portraits. My smile actually widened as the images passed by. I tried to do a quick sketch of him because I found his jacket almost as curious as his photographs, but these ended up catching my attention (and this is my excuse for the lousy drawing). And then it was Sandrine Estrade-Boulet who brought it up: it's all about opening your eyes for the little things.

A poor drawing of Sandrine & Olivier and their fine jackets.

You may want to listen to what they said. If so, you can click here. And remember to keep your eyes open. As for me, I may skip class again, soon.
This is, again, a drawing based on Sandrine Estrade's work.
